Dear Parent/Guardian,                                                          

Based on your recommendations, much research and hard work, this past summer we hired the professional services of the prestigious Architect Alejandro Cardenal, AAIA, for the renovation of our parking lot.  Looking into the future, the renovation of the parking lot with new easy drop off zones was reconstructed with the purpose of having less waiting time for parents, faster traffic flow and for your benefit all around. In addition new parking spaces have been built for the faculty in order to leave the main parking lot free just for you.  The new and improved traffic flow at LIA is ready!!!!!

We need all your help and support for this new initiative to work.  Please follow all regulations and instruct your drivers to do the same.  It is up to all of us that the new and improved traffic flow regulations work.  Following the general guidelines, you will find the map of the school with the traffic flow and answers to possible questions that you might have.

In order to make circulation at rush hours as smooth as possible, the following rules must be complied with:

• a) Courtesy is a must. Please make sure we respect each other while moving around in our vehicles, both inside the school and while circulating on the access roads.
• b) Now, the school has two access gates (one for secondary school and one for preschool and elementary) and two drop off areas, one for secondary school (first entrance, north gate) and one for elementary and preschool (second entrance, south gate). Please use them accordingly.
• c) All traffic signs and instructions by guards must be respected.
• d) Please park your vehicles in the parking spaces only, slowly backing into them. Vehicles cannot be parked in areas not specified for this purpose where they block either the access or the exit of others.
• e) Children's safety must always be taken into account. Please respect speed limit and do not drop off or pick up children in unauthorized areas or on the side of the street where they would have to cross in between moving traffic.
• f) Instruct your drivers to be respectful of the school's traffic rules. In many previous cases, complaints regarding the use of the parking lot involve them.
• g) Vehicles are not allowed to park at any time in the streets or in front of the chains that close the vehicule access to the pedestrian zone, please collaborate; this is one of the norms that is disrespected most often. Park only in the parking lot designated areas.
• h) The chains that restrict the access of vehicles to unauthorized areas can only be removed when authorized by the administration.
• i) The secondary school intermediate gate will be open at the following times: Mornings: until 7:40 a.m. /Afternoons: from 1:55 p.m. to 3:45 p.m.
• j) Make sure your car is locked when unattended. The school will not be held responsible for any lost items.

Possible Questions That You Might Have:

• What if I have one child in Secondary School and one in Elementary and I do not want to park?

Now you will be able to use the Secondary School access (North gate) and leave your secondary school child in the Secondary School drop off zone, then leave the school through the same access and use the Elementary and Preschool access (South gate) and leave your child at the new designated drop of zone, then leave the school via the South gate. 

2. What if I only have children in Secondary School and do not want to park?

You will have to enter the school via the Secondary School access (North gate) and leave your children only in the designated drop off zone, then leave the school through the same access (North gate) this way you do not need to enter in the parking lot.

3. What if after leaving my children at the Secondary School drop off zone I need to park?

In this case you will do the same as in question #2 but instead of leaving the school you will have access to the parking lot the same as it used to be last year.  After you complete your visit at school you will have to leave the school through the South Gate following all the sings to the exit.

4. What if I have children in Preschool and Elementary and I do not want to park?

You will have to enter the school via the Elementary and Preschool access (South gate, leave your children at the designated drop off zone and leave the school through the same gate.  School personnel will be at the drop off zone in order to take your preschool children to their classrooms.

5. What if I need to park?

As in question #4, you will enter the school via the Elementary and Preschool access and enter the parking lot and park in the designated areas for parking only.  When you leave the school, you will do it through the South Gate following all the signs to the exit.

Please remember that the only way this new and improved traffic flow system will work is that we all cooperate, treat each other with respect and courtesy and abide with all the norms of the use of the internal streets and parking lot of the school. We have done our part, please help us with yours.
